Vocational orientation

Vocational Information Days

To support school-going youngsters with a practical orientation to the vocation, Vocational Information Days are organised in cooperation with various  district administrations. School children in the third and fourth grades of the cooperative vocational middle schools take part in these information events as classes.

Here, companies from the district as well as Viennese vocational schools provide opportunities to the school children to try out typical activities in the vocations, on site. In this way, they give the youngsters an opportunity to get to know more than 70 vocations.

Besides the companies, even organisations such as the Federal Chamber of Labour, the Public Employment Service, wienXtra or the Verein Sprungbrett, which aims at encouraging girls to take up technical vocations, also take part.

The schoolchildren in the project group visited the companies Mazda Rainer, Kraftfahrzeugshandels AG, Mutter Gottes Apotheke, E. Fessler GesmbH & Co KG, Telekom Austria and the Art Hotel Vienna. They interviewed the trainers and the apprentice trainees here about their work, the apprenticeship and on the motivation for the job.
